Publications & Webinars

NYJN responds to emerging and salient needs in the youth justice movement through a variety of publications. Policy platforms represent the consensus recommendations of the NYJN membership on relevant issues. Our annual Advances publication tracks state-by-state youth justice policy wins and general improvements the lives of our youth and families including legislation focused on reducing racial disparities, reducing justice system involvement and confinement, and keeping youth out of the adult justice system.  Fact sheets, briefs and toolkits provide NYJN members and the broader field with key information to aid in advocacy efforts.

Policy Platforms

NYJN provides our members and the larger youth justice movement with policy recommendations in specific issues areas that reflect the broad consensus of our membership. These policy platforms are based on established standards in the field and provide a foundation for youth justice transformation. Policy platforms are developed by a committee of NYJN members from across the country, and are approved by the entire membership voting body.

Advances

Each year, our Youth Policy Advances publication brings into collective focus how far we’ve come in our fight for youth justice transformation and what’s possible when we work collaboratively through community organizing, policy advocacy and narrative change.
